Chmstchurch, October 10. A. young man named W. Pomeroy Vcrnon, committed suicide about noon to-day by shooting himself under the right ear. Death must have been instantaneous. "Vernon, who was well connected came hero from Dunedin, and was m the employ of Nigram Bros., maltsters. He has been suffering from insomnia, and taking laudanum, and probably under the influence of this drug committed the deed
