The Thoroughbred Horse Macilleathean Will stand m Ashburton, and Trave the Surrbunding Districts this Season. MACILLEATHEAN is a handsome dark brown or black horse, and stands 16 hands high. He was got by the English Tim Whiffler out of Flying Scud. Flying Scud ws a dark bay mare, bred m Victorh by Mr J. Harper m 1865, and was got by Fisherman. Tim Whiffler was scarcely ever beaten and has won as many cups and handicaps as ajiy Other horse m England. He won the Chester Cup, and ran a dead heat with Buckstone for the Ascot Cap. Buckstone was another grand horse, and was famous no only for his dead heat, c ran with Tim Whiffler for the Ascot C'dn but also for his match against the Earl of Glasgow's Knowsiey for 500 guineas aside, which he won m a canter. Tim Whiffler was the sire of Briseis, who won the Melbourne Cup and Derby, and the dam of Macilleathean being by Fisherman shows his grand strain of'blood; as a study of the Stud Book will show that Musket's grea success has been from Australian bred mares, for the descendants of the grand old Fisherman, viz., Martini-Henry, Nordenfeldt and Trenton are all descended from Fisherman on the dam's side Season money due on Jahuaiy st, 1891; gaarantee money due on July 1 1891.
