London, January 18. At a meeting of the Directors of the various Scotch Railway Companies, a proposal to compromise matters m connection with the strike was declined. The men remain firm, and the Directors are also determined not to give way. Owing to the strike, the expoi-t shipping at Glasgow has been suspended.
