Upper A shburton Road Board.

The monthly meeting of this Board was held yesterday. All the members were present. Correspondence was read as follows : — From Messrs Todhunter and Doweling, drawing the Board's attention to the height of the crown of Black'* road, and stating that it stopped the natural drainage and flooded their land. —Resolved that the Clerk meet Mr Dowding and attend to the matter if necessary. From the General Crown Lands Office, Wellington, stating that the resolution passed by the Board re the departure from the present arrangement whereby the Board receives the deferred payments thirds, etc., had been received by the Hon. the Minister of Lands. From the Mount Hutt Road Board, stating that they are willing to pay their share of the cost of metalling the portion of the Boundary road from the bridge near Thompson's to Maguiness' road, a distance of rather more than one mile. It was resolved to call for tenders for the following works :—^l) Metalling Laghmor road, a distance of some ten miles, more or less ; four yards metal to the chain. (2) Picking tussocks off McDowell's road, a distai.ee of some t'Avo miles, more or less, between sections 27394, 28728, The tender of Mr John Devery was accepted for the metalling J required on the Lyndhursb road. Re stone picking.—The Board gave Mr Harper authority to put on men in his ward to clear stones off the Hackthorne road to the junction at Maronan. It was moved by Mr McLean, seconded by Mr Sargent, and carried, that "This Board is of opinion that with the consent of the Minister of Lands it is desirable to assist settlers occupying land on perpetual lease and deferred payment in obtaining water through their sections." Accounts amounting to £37 15s 3d were passed for payment and the Board adjourned.
