The Price of Gold.
(PBR PKESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, April 13. The Minister of Mines has received a communication from the President of the Otago Miners' Association suggesting that the Government should take action to see that miners receive a fair price for their gold, either by establishing a mint or providing that post offices m mining districts should purchase gold. It is alleged that the Banks pay only £3 17s per oz, while the value at the Sydney mint is £4 3s. Mr Seddon has arranged to purchase 12 ozs of gold m each mining centre and have it sent to Sydney m order to- determine the value recived there as compared with that miners are receiving.
