Wellington, May 5; The date 6xed for the Municipal Conference is Monday, .1 one 15th. The Railway Commissioners have granted free passe* to the delegates. The Public Trust Commissioners have summoned the Auditor-General to give evidence to-morrow. Thes.s. Lawrence, as she lies on the Mokihinui beach, was sold at auction today for £250. Brunnerton, May 5. At a public meeting called by the Mayor to consider the Minister for Public Works stopping the Midland Railway at Lake Brunner, only twenty-two persons were present. After discussion a resolution was moved—" That this meeting is of opinion that the Minister for Public Wbrks and Mr Wilaon should be leffe alone m the meantime until further information was received on the subject." A.n "amendment,.." That this meeting views with regret the adtion of the Minister m stopping the works, and requests him to withdraw his opposition," was supported by five votes. Only ten voted for the resolution, which was carried, Seven of those prevent did not vote.
