SPRINGBURN.
(frosi our correspondent. )
A successful magic lantern entertainment was recently given m the Springburn School by Mr James Price, of Mount Somers, the Rev. Mr Finlaysoa being the lecturer. The views, which included a number of notable London scenes, and also some interesting microscopic specimens, came out very dist:nctly. Mr Price recited the temperance poem. "Sir Jasper," and accompanied it witli effective illustrations on the curtain. A number of photographs of local residents were reproduced on the screen m a lifelike manne).', and formed an interesting close to the entertainment. Amongst those present were a large number of school children, who were kindly admitted free. Votes of thanks were accorded to Mr Price, to Mr Finlayson for presiding, to Mr-s Finlayson for her luusicul selections, and to tlie pi'omoters ot the entertainment. As the educative value of good magiG lantern views is now being reoogmsod, it is to be hoped that before long we will have the opportunity of seeing other instructive and interesting views.
