Christchukch, August 5. Stork Sheep—About 2500 were yarded, principally crossbred ewes in lamb, for which there was a good demand. Young sound mouthed ewes and 500 two-tooths brought, 15s to 15s 6d ; mixed ages, 9s 6d to Ila 6d ; crossbred hoggets, 10s 6d to 10s lid; merino wethers, 6s lid. Fat Shkkp—There was a smaller entry than'has been in the yards for the last three weeks, and the quality of the bulk was decidedly inferior. Best crossbred wethers and maiden ewes sold at 18s to 225, lighter sheep in proportion. There was a good mnuber of merinos which sold at 9s and upwards, according to quality. Fat Cattle —178 head were yarded. Best bullocks brought- £(j g s to £8 2s 6d, and heifers, £6 to X>7 17s 6d ; fat cows met with a better market. Stoke Cattle — The entry showed a decided improvement. Yearlings brought 17s to 22s ; yeai>aud-a-half olds averaged 28s to 30s ; half-fat bullocks sold fairly well, up to £4 19s being obtained for them ; nice dairy cows and springers changed hands at £5 15s to £6 ss. : Pius—About 320 were yarded. Except for the best quality of baconers and porkers the demand was somewhat slacker than recently. Good, handy-sized bacon pigs sold at 30s to 39s 6d.
