Chbistohtjrch, January 6. The n>ar]|.et was fairly well filled m the sheep department, and business was brisk. The sale of cattle was small and unsatisfactory. There was a good attendance. Stoke Siikki*— About 3000 were yarded, comprising two and four tooth croasbreds, which were sold m large lines as follows :— 1500 two-tooths, 10s; forward conditioned four-tooths, Ils6d; another big line, more forward and large framed sheep, realised 13s. Fat Lames— Good demand existed for fat lambs for export, and prices remained firm, frbrn J. 1.3 tjd to 13s 9d Being obtained for best ijuaUty. A laj.ge number sojd from 8s to 10s fld. * Fat Sheei'—There was renewed activity m the sale of fat sheep, several buyers for export being present. Values improved for best sorts of crossbred wethers and maiden ewes, which brought from 12s 6d to 15s. The sale of old ewes and merino wethers was slightly improved, Fat Cattlk —Of 205 yarded more than half were old cows, for which there was a slack demand. Best steers sold from £6 to £6 10s ; and heifers up to £6 ss. stork Cattlk—The entry comprised only 65 head of mixed sorts, which sold pretty ffecjy at improved rates. Pros—Only 5Q of, 911 sorts of stores, with less than a score of'porkers, formed the entry. They met with a ready sale at 3Jd to 3|d per lb.
