The Auckland Gas Company has declared a dividend of 7s 6d per share on 15 500 fully paid up shat'ts~~an<l 3s 6d per share on 13,743 half paid up shares ; together £8389 6s 3d; and carry forward £4642 18s 9d t® profit «nd loss account. One of the party who travelled over the Stratford route, Mr Oliphant, says drey found coal apparently m immense quantity and available for railway purposes. The district is well watered throughout. A bridle road, costing £6000, would be sufficient to open the country, and it might be done at once. It would then be possible to drive cattle through to Auckland.
