Sidney, February 1. There was a great attendance afc* the cricket match to-day. At the close of the day's play the Australians had lost three wickets for 263 runs. The principal scores were Lyons 134, Bannerinan (not out) 67, Giffen 49, Bruce (not out) 5. Lyons played amagnificentinnings, hitting with great freedom and brilliancy. He only gave one chance during the innings and that was a difficult one. He received a, great ovation on returning to the pavilion. Bannerman played a splendid defensive game.
