Concert at Hinds.

The concert at Hinds on Friday evening last attracted an audience which not only packed the schoolroom, but left many to be c nteat with standing room. The itev Thomas Farley presided, and in his opening remarks distinguished between healthy, hearty, pure enjoyment; and the outward pretence of uprightness and purity, which was not always borne out in practice. He understood that the School Committee was giving a ball after the concert, in aid of the Church of England organ fund. He was glad to see so large a gathering, %nd ho hoped each would enjoy the concert. The first part of the concert programme consisted of— a solo by Mrs Farley j song, " Balaclava,' by Mr Chivers ; duet, Mrs Tippett and Mr Cow ; a reading, " Bess," by Mr Farley ; song, " Love's own sweet song," by Mrs Tippett, who in response to an encore sang '' Rock a-bye baby " ; a song, "Thi song my darling sang," by Mrs Biggs; ani the song, " Killarney," by Mr Higgins, who, in response to an encore, sang, " Let me like a soldier fall." The second part consisted of- a solo by Mrs Farley ; son^, *' T'l take you home again, Kathleen " j song, "Killaloe," by Mr Chivers, who, in response co an encore, sang "Morianty"; song, "I borrowed it," by Mr Cow, who, in response to an encpre, sang " He's got 'em on" j duet, ''Very suspicious," by Mr Cow and Mrs Tippett; scng, " The happy policeman," by Mr Cow, The entertainment, which seemed to be much enjoyed by all, concluded towards oleven o'clock. An amount, much larger than anyone anticipated, is one pleasing result of the concert.
