MR DAVID THOMAS.

Mr David Thomas reports upon the live stock market in the Ashburton county for the week ending April 18 as follows:—On Tuesday at the Tinwald yards the day was very wet and miserable, causing the stock to look to disadvantage. The attendance was small, and very few appeared bent on [ business. Values of crossbred lambs and 1 failing mouth crossbred aad merino ewes ; were distinctly weaker, whilst well grown young crossbrfsds and freezer* held their own. The entries fop the (Jay consisted of about 7000 sheep, 8 head of catt'e, 62 pigs, and 12 rams—a very small yarding after what we have been accustomed to of late. My entry consisted of 3570 sheep, 2 head of pattle, 34 pigs, and 4 rams, and I succeeded in clearing 2840 sheep and all the cattle, pigs, and rams at ths following prices i— 130 fat merino wethers, 7s; 180, 7s Qd j 6 crossbred cull lambs, 6s 3d; 94 merino ewes, 6s; 105 failing mouth, 3s lid; 100 crossbred ewes, ft; 350 growbred eww, 8a lOd; 38
