ROAD BOARDS.
RANGITATA,
The ordinary monthly meeting was held on Wednesday June 7. Present—Messrs Harper (chairman), Goodwin and Peter. The Returning Officer reported that Mr J. W. Sawle had been re-elected to fill the extraordinary vacancy on the Board. Mr Harper was re-elected chairman for the ensuing year. The Chairman reported having authorised certain repairs to theGawlor Downs road. — Approred. WORKS, The Overseer's report was read and considered. The stones to be picked off the Ruapuua to Shepherd's Bush road; ruts to be filled in on Mayfleld to Anama road and Boundary roadj the road leading to Rangitata bridge to be repaired, and the Hinds fords recently damaged to be repaired by day labor. Contract to be let for stone picking on road between the Mayfield and Haekthorne roads. Tenders to be called for stone picking on the Cracrof t road, about seven and a half miles, and on the Hackthorne road, about four miles j for forming about forty chains of the Rangitata river road, fronting R.S. 31141. The tender of T. J. Krunry for forming and metalling near Mr Roberts' was accepted. The stone | picking on the Ealing-Montalto and the Hinds to Bridge roads to stand over for the present, also on Glassy's road to Ruapuna. It was resolved that further expenditure for the benefit ol P.L. ssttlers be suspended until funds are provided from accrued thirds, the Board having already spent nearly £200 which has not bfiten repaid. WIDTK OF TIRES. The Clerk was instructed to write to the Mackenzie County Council for information as to the operation of the width of Tires Act, aod the steps necessary to be taken to bring the Act into force. COKKKSBOffDENCE. From Mr Roberts, in reply to a notice from the Beard to remove certain fences.— From E. G. Wright, Esq., M H.R-, requesting leave of absence to attend the session of Parliament. —On the motion of the Chairman leave was granted. From Messrs J. F. Bell, S. Miller, G. B. Malby, J. Toner, and T. Corbitt, applying for leave to plough gorse on the roads.—Applications granted, provided the work is done to the satisfaction of the Board. From Mf R. D. Ambler, applying to have his name placed on the rate roll for perpetual lease No 36422, Application granted. From Miles and Company, giving the Board notice that rural sections 31090, 31093, and 31139 have been sold to the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company.—To be acknowledged. From Mr A. M. Clark, requesting the Board to take into consideration the closing of road running between sections 32311, SOBS 9, 30789, 30899, «hd 30070,—Clerk to reply that the Board will put the machinery in motion to comply with the request provided Mr Clark will guarantee the cost.—From Mr J. W. Corr, asking the Board to substitute the name ol James Gordon Corr for his own on the rate roll for R.S. 31918, —Granted.—From Mr C. M. Brooke, re poisoned wheat.—Resolved that the Board obtain its supply of poisoned wheat from the County Council for distribution this season. RETURN. The Clerk was instructed to prepare a return showing the rateable value in each of the proposed subdivisions of the district, with the amount of rates collected and the amount of money spent in each ot the proposed wards during the last two financial years. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £84 0s lid were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned to Wednesday, July 5.
