The Colonial Trea&urer, who is now on his way back to Wellington has mot with an accident, causing him a swollen knee, and he will haye to lje up here for some days. Intimation has been received from Sir George Grey that further leave of absence is required on his behalf, and ib is exceedingly improbable that he will be able to put in an appearance this session, THE GOVERNMENT LICENSING BILL. Notice of the Government Licensing Bill is to bi given this afternoonbut its terms are not yet finally eettled. AJf ALIENS BILL. A<* Aliens B)U is being drafted by Mr O'Conor, th<* object of which is to prevent Asiatics from entering into trade or becoming naturalised in New Zealand, unless able to shpw that they are Jikejy to bepqme permaneiit residents. BARSBY (3O¥ERN}JENI. Mr O'Conor also intends introducing a Bill providing for the abolition of party government, but does not expect to get it beyond its second read ins.
