Supposed Loss of the Barque Evelyn.

Wellington, October 1. The Marine Department received a telegram from Lyfctelton tliis evening stating that the masters of the steamers Rotorua and Wakatipu, which arrived there to-day from Wellington, reported having passed, three miles from Pencarrow Head yesterday, a quantity of wreckage and a boat bearing on her stern the words "Evelyn,.
