THE BARQUE SPLENDID.

ASHORE AT PORT ALBERT.

Intelligeace received this morning from Port Albert, Kaipara Harbour, states that the barque Splendid, a wellknown intercolonial trading vessel, ran aground last evening on the reef close to the Port Alberb timber-loading locality, and had nob coma jff bo-day. She is not expected to be very much damaged. No details are to hand.

The Splendid had just arrived at the Kaipara from Port Chalmers, and was on her way up to the Port Alberb bimber mills to load back for Dunedin, when she grounded. She is a vessel of 358 tons register, and is owned by Elder Mowabb and others of Dunedin. She is a very old vemsel and has seen her jubilee, having been built in Massachusetts, U.S., as far back as 1835. She was formerly a whaler. Mr D. Gouk, shipwright, of Auckland, ■.vent up to the Kaipara bhisaf ten.oon, to assist in gebting tho barque off and repairing her. THE VESSEL FLOATED OFF. The barque Splendid, which was reported from bhe ; Kaipaia early bo-day as having gone aground ab Porf, Albert, has been floated off. The damage to her hull is unknown.
