The Z>*alandia, which has been advertised to leave for the South on Monday evening, at j.30. has been postponed to her u*ual lime, 2 p.m., on Tuesday. The Cramp shipyard, Philadelphia, has constructed a vessel of 2000 tous register m it,, days, and handed her over to her owners a month later. The s.s. Karamea will arrive here from the South about January 10, and will be floated Into Calliope Dock for cleaning and painting. The steamer then loads for London. * She leaves the colony finally from Wellington about the end of January. It is announced that the HuddartParker ss. Zealandia will run a three days' excursion from Dunedin to Stewart Island at Christmas time, leaving Dunedln lif sufficient h-dnoement offers) on December 24, and returning on December 2S. A Sorthei v exihsnjre of the 10th insL st:;tes that the necessity for a commencen\?nt bein; made with the proposed new dock at Port Chalmers is shown by the fact that there are at tbe present no less than three ocean steamrrs in port, all of which require dofkinir liefore leaving for Home. Two of these will be docked at Lyttelton. and the third probably at Auckland, to the great detilment of the trade at Port Chalmers. The •'Otai:o Daily Times" states that in the Union Steamship Company's office is a co.oured of the new turbine steamer for the intercolonial trade. The lines of the vessel are not unlike those of the Looupana. aud the first thing to catch the eye is her two funnels. This vessel wi 1 be 400 ft long, and her gross register will be about 0000 tons. Iv tbe matter of speed and appointments she will be superior ro many steamers canying passengers to and from the Home Country to the colonies, and her advent in these waters will mate an epoch in the history of the company. THE SIERRA. The R.M.s. Sierra arrived from Sydney at 5 a.m. to-day. after a good passage. The steamer left Sydney at 1.30 p.m. on Monday last, and met with fine weather on the passage. The Sierra continued her voyage for the Islands and Sau Francisco shortly after 3 o'clock this afternoon. She will be due in 'Frisco on January 2.
