The Baltic White Sea Conference Is sitting at Copenhagen, the representatives of 14 countries being present. A unanimous resolution was .passed expressing sympathy with the Newcastle proposal for an international shipping combination. On January 26 a representative meeting of the northern shipowners, held at Newcastle, adopted the principle of an international combination, to fit the supply of tonnage to the demand, for-submis-sion to the Baltic Conference. Support, was received from all parts of the United Kingdom and abroad, representing capital of £250,000,000, and the scheme was welcomed with enthusiasm in Japan.
