MAIN ROAD MAINTENANCE.
A WAIHI DISPUTE. , (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, this day. Kelative to the protest made, by a 'deputation representing the WaihLßorough Council against further payments to the Ohinemuri County. Council for. main road maintenance; the latter body has-advised the Waihi Council that.it cannot-see its, way clear to agree to any alteration of the existing award; . I understand . the Waihi Council intend, in face, of this refusal,' to take, other «teps, to ,alter, the agreement. Since 1904 the. borough ha» contributed £23,000 towards, the .main road, but. now that the. railway, is in existence, consider, it is unreasonable to be asked,to continue such payments, the road being practically useless to .Waihi. .
