CHAMPIONSHIP ROWING "REGATTA.
ALL COMPETED CREWS ARRIVED SOME FINE RACING EXPECTED. (By : Telegrapli.—Own Correspondent.) ~,. . MERCER, this day.' General arrangements here for the championship regatta are now well in hand. A fine shed, has been erected for housing the boats, and- the willows are being trimmed along the river bank to afford a complete view of the two-mile courtee. Refreshment booths are in course of erection, and no pains are being spared to provide for the public iii every way. The Picton ci-ew arrived yesterday, and the Napier, Wangariui and Wellington crews to-day. The crews training could not be in better form and spirits. The Southern men speak in high praise o* the course. Waitemata, Blenheim and Picton each expect to win the champion fours. Fine crews represent the Blenheim and Picton Clubs, and an exciting finish must result, ■by to-morrow all the Southern crews will be here.. The river is presenting a perfect picture with crews in heavy training.
