DAIRY PRODUCE CONTROL.
» FILLING- TWO VACANCIES. MR. 0. HAWKJEX APPOINTED, i (By Telegraph.—Press Association.l WELLINGTON, this day. The Minister of Agriculture states that arrang-ments are well under way for completing the personnel of the Dairy Produce Control Board, so that it may be enabled to commence its sittings The election of producers' representatives was completed just before the Christmas holidays, leaving the appointment Ot two Government representatives and one representative of commercial interests to be arranged. The last-mentioned appointment is not mandatory, hu- the Governor-General will be recommended to make it. As regards Government representation. Mr O. Hawken. M.P-, has been selected for a seat on the board, and it is hoped to fill the remaining scat by an appointment from the South Island, where producers have elected two candidates from Southland and one from Canterbury. Certain gentlemen who have been approached in this connection have found themselves unable, presumably from personal or business reasons, to accept responsibility, and this has prevented completion of the board at quite as early a date as had been intended. It is anticipated, however, that everything will be in order in time for the board to hold its first meeting before the end ot the present month.
