TV sparks rush on fish heads
Fish retailers in Christchurch have noticed a demand for fish heads and fish scraps as a result of a television programme on Monday night showing how to make soup with these ingredients. This is the oonosite to the situation in Wellington and the Hutt Valiev where, the Press Association reports, fish retailers have noticed no great increase in the demand for fish heads or scraps.
The president of the Christchurch Fish Retailers’ Association (Mr B. E. Mather), who also owns a fish shops, said fish heads were usually thrown away but he now found people coming into the shop asking for them. Wellington and Christchurch fish retailers seem to agree on one thing, however. Whenever a fish recipe is show n on TV they notice a demand for the particular fish used.
