'The Boat ' returns
Jack Ford (James Bolam) is back, in the fourth series of the popular Tyneside saga, “When The Boat Comes In.” Ten 50-minute episodes will begin on One on Thursday, August 27. It is 1930, and Ford has returned from six years in the United States, where he made a fortune bootlegging before losing .everything in
the Wall Street crash. He I arrives in Britain down on i his uppers but with an eye, as ever, for the main chance. < He's aware that where ’ there’s poverty there's got to be wealth and that a time of ; turmoil is ideal for consoli- I dation of wealth and position. A time of turmoil is just around the corner.
