CROMWELL SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

A special m?cHiiLT of the above Committee was held in the School-h use yesterday evening. The President, Mr John Marsh, occupied the chair ; and the other members present were Messrs Wright, Preshaw, and Matthews. The Presi lent re id a letter from Mr MacKellar. intimating his resignation of the office of teacher, and at the same time expressing hi, willingness to do all in bis power towards assisting the Committee to obtain a properly - qualified successor. It was proposed, seconded, and unanimously resolved—That tdie resignation of Mr MaeKellar be accepted : and that the Committee record their sin ere regret at the prospect of being deprived of his services as teacher of the School, — a position he has 'tiled for upwards of six years with credit t > himself and satisfaction to the School Committee.

Mr Mau{Cellar, who was present at the meeting, asked to be allowed leave uf absence for a fortnight, and explained his reasons for making the request. After some discussion it was resolved—That Mr MacKellar's request for a fortnight's leave of absence—commencing on the 6th inst.—be granted. The Committee further resolved—That Mr MacKellar he authorised to engage the services of a competent teacher to take charge of the school during his absence.
