StR,-Mn consequence of the present unsatis* factory condition of the Block XXVH. and Block IX. difficulty, I have to ask you to give publicity to the enclosed resolutions tabled by me in the Municipal Council, but eventually withdrawn, or rather compromised, in consequence of pros’sure of circumstances.--t am, &c., W. Grant. (1) That it is desirable that this Council take immediate steps to have the width of Melmoreterrace reduced throughout its whole length to a Uniform' Width, by a line running 57ft. from and parallel to the sUrvey-line on the Northern side. (2) That the ground to be cttt off from the street, —namely, 44ft. in width to the northward of section I, block XXVlt.,—be added to block IX., and that the whole of the latter-mentioned block, as altered, be divided in such a manner that each of the buildings at present erected on block IX., or on the ground proposed to be cut off, or partly on each, shall he entirely on one section. The part not occupied by buildings to lie divided in sUch manlier as the Government deem most desirable. (-1) That the whole of the Said block, when altered, he sold hylhe Government at auction to the highest bidder. (4) That the ground to he cut off from the said Terrace to the Northward of the North boundary of block XXVII. be added to that block, and he divided into sections by producing the side lines of the present sections ill block XXVII. to the new line proposed to be l‘lln. (5) That the piece of ground thus proposed to be cut off be Vested by the Government in the parties respectively owning the sections opposite to and adjoining the said pieces. [C) That a memorial embodying tbe aboVe Koseil resolutions lie at ohee prepared and arded to bis Honor the Superintendent) praying him to give effect to the same.
