WORKERS’ EDUCATION

CLASSES AT 3VAIWETU-31OERA SETTLEMENTS. The Workers’ Educational Association class which was started this wintor for tho Waiwetu-Moera settlements at Lower Hutt was brought to a dose last Friday' night when a “mock banquet.” was held in the Moera social hall. Mr. 11. A. Browne presided over a large attendance and several interesting speeches were made by the students. The tutor, Mr. W. Dickinson, M.A., gave a short address on the value of the W.E.A. movement in assisting its members to understand the many social problems with which the world was confronted to-day. Ho stressed the need for adult education in tlie community and the iinportsincC I’C citizens being stimulated to think for thoniSclvcs. Appreciation was expressed of the helpful lectures which hail been given by the tutor during the session, and it was unanimously agreed that a full tutorial class be undertaken next year. On Saturday afternoon a combined W.E.A. ramble was held, members being shown over the Hutt Walley High School by the principal, Mr. 11. P. Kidson, and afterwards visiting the Moera settlement and other interesting parts of Wellington’s garden suburb.
