ARRIVAL OF THE 'ALEXANDRA.'

The s.B. 'Alexandra ' arrived in the Manukau yesterday from Taranaki, Raglan, and Port Waikato. She brings no Taranaki papers, but we understand tb.it thrre had been no further hostilities with the natives since the last news received from theie It is veiy ■urpiibing that the accident to the ' Airedale' which occut red when the ' Alexandra' was going out of the Manukau several days ago, should not have been heard iv Auckland before now. CdpUin Williams reports that the ' Airedale's ' screw got foul of Uip chain belonging to one of the buoys in the south channel, and that she had to come back to Poponga and bo beached befoie the accident could be repaired She did not sail again until Sunday morning last, and left Taranaki on Monday evening ; so'that there is no doubt but that the reached Kelson in time to catch the supplemental y mail steamer. The only paper we have received by the ' Alexandia'isa Wanganui Chronicle, from which we perceive that the man Tricker, trought up for the Eangitikei muider, had been committed to take his trial at the next criminal sittings of the Supreme Court at Wellington.

The Kaipara DlSTiwcr. — A rumour wa« current in town ye»terday to the effect that the natives had been threatening to have r-jvenge in th« event of Ruarangi being executed. On making inquiries, we could not discover any good foundation for the report. Nothing of the kind hid been repotted to the authorities, mid Bettleri from Riverhead knew nothing of it. We understand that the houee of a settler named Carter was entered on Sunday last dining the almenue of his family, and a »urn of £16 taken theiefiom. This act was supposed to have been committed by natives, and the paitie» became alatmed, and came into Auckland. The other tumour, as we learu, giew out of this affair. Thatcher's Entertainment. — This entertainment appears to be as attractive as ever. There vr« agaiu a large audience present last night, who appeared to be very much entertained. <
