OVER ZEALOUS,

To the Editor of the Daily Southern Crost. Sir, — Our Commissioner of Police thinks it very wiong to write down thr police as troublesome, but appaiently no harm to write them up ; but his letter would have answered just as wall if he had not been so anxious to impute unworthy motives; it appears, however, that the Municipal Police Act is more to blame than the police. It citninly is more stringent than in London, Sydney, or Melbourne; and fora small colonial town like this to catry it out in its integiity, will befiuitful of much ill feeling, and if not cm lied out thus, will make good chaigei of shortsightedness against the police, and will piesent a good opening for a few modest neighbouts to do a little in the informing way. — I aui, &c, Veritas. [Suoh as the law is the police are bound to carry it out.— Ed. D.S.C ]
