THE SHIP TREVELYAN. ;The iron clipper ship Trev'elyan, Edward Cooch, Xbq.f.opminipdißr (the arrival of which at thelfeadf onr laat), made, the Barboar" at noon on' Saturday £r>in Adelaide^ in * Bbe t le^ Adelaide on the 2nd instant, and attempted Jo 'pats

thiou^h Bass's Straits, but, finding the wind <<>me on easterly, had t • bear up and round \ r aff Ditmou's Land, b'rom ibm cj experienced a sncju.osion of tho east winds until arriving off the Noith Cape , on Thursday. Was in compnny with the H linsJalo from Aj el bourne t< r several days. The 'liuveljan is a handsome iron-built clipper •hip of 1,042 tons register, and made her passage from London to Adelaide in 90 days, and thia after being delayed beating about in the chops of the Channel for over a fortnight againsb most adverse weather ; in fact, the was at sea during the gale which proved so destructive to the ill fated London. Captain Gooch describes the gale as of the utmost violence, and was not therefore surprised to hear of the most disastrous results therefrom. The Trevelyan, which is always sttady and comfortable in a sea way, was on that occasion disturbed from its equilibruna, and was pitched with more tkan ordinary violence whilst the gale was at its height. The Trevelyan is a well-known passenger ship, and fitted with every convenience for the purpose. On this occasion she comes undir contract for the conveyance of some 350 troops to England, which, we believe, will consist of detachments from the Military Train, Royal Engineers, and other troops in garrison under orders for home. On her last voyage the Trevelyau conveyed the left wing of H.M» 36th Regiment to Calcutta, aud from thence proceeded to the West Indies with coolies. Her tween-decks are almost tubular, and 200 feet in length, 33 feet beam, and from seven to eight feet in height, being higher at the forward end than the stern. Her 'tween-decks will accommodate 400 persons with ea««. She is also fitted with the latest improved method of ventilation, which consists of a passage along the entire length of the 'tween-decks, communicating with the deck. She is also fitted with one of Dr. Normanby's patent condensing apparatus, capable of producing 500 gallons per diem. The Trevelyan is owned by Messrs. Tyser and Co., and ably commanded by Captain Gooch. She brings 800 bags flour for Auckland, and a small cargo for London. Passengers : Mrs. Gooch, and two in the steerage. — J. Roberton and Co., agent*.
