POSTMASTER'S DEATH

BY SHOT FROAI A PEA RIFLE. AFTER N0T1CE OF PROMOTION.
AUCKLAND, This day. "Alr Roy Jones, jiostniaster at Manurewa, was l'ound dead at (5 a.m. in a shed at the back of the post office, by a teleplione exehange operator. Death w*as caused by a sliot, evidently diseliarged from a pea rifle, probably about twelv© hours earlier. Deceased was a single man, aged 41 years. He liad boen postmaster at Manurewa for over two years and very recently was notifiod of his promotion to the Auckland East Post Office.
