HALES—WILLAN.
A very pretty wedding of wide intercst was that celebrated last Wednesday by Fatber G^flnane at _ tbe Roman Catholic Clmrcm , Dannevirke, between CUfford Lancelotte Reginald, youngest son of Mr and Mrs AV . W. fe. Hales, of "Claudelands," Weber, and ITazel Agnes, tbird daugbter of Mr and Mrs R. J. Willan, of Umutaoroa. Botli families being well known, particularly Mr and Mrs Hales, who are among the pioneers of the Coast, there was an exceptionally large gathermg of relatives and friends to accompany the young couple to tlie tbreshold of_ their new life and wisli them joy therein. The bride, who was given away by ber fatber, looked very pretty in a simple corsage of wbite georgette and lace, ornamented with diamante triinming, the skirt with two flounces draped to tbe side with orange blossoins cintl finished with a. flat satin how. The veil of Brussels net was caught above the ears with clusters of the'bridal blossoms. A lovely bouquet was carried. . Three bridesnaaids were in attendance, Miss Molly Willan, sister of tbe bride, in a becoming frock* of blue taffeta, Miss Dapbne Jeune, of Gisborne, cousin of tlie bridegroom, in mauve satin, and Miss Nancy Hickson, in pink taffeta, all tlie frocks being made in a pretty style wjth tiered tulle flounces, edged with ribbon to matcb and a large bow on tbe left hip. Hats of fawn felt were worn and tbe bouquets were of asters, hydrangea, larkspur and liiaidenlian, tiie colours toning beautifully with each dainty ensemble. The bridegroom'is attendants were Messrs George and Dick Hales, his brotliers, and Massey Willan, brother of the bride. At tlie eonclusion of thc ceremony the wedding party adjourned to the Di'ill Hall, where a suniptuous "breakfast" was partaken of by about 400 guests. Mrs Willan (mother of the bride), receiving in a niodcl frock of black satin with coffee lace and hat to tono, and carrying a bouquet of scarlet zinnias, Toses and niaiden liair fern. Mrs Hales, niotlier of tbe bridegroom, was in cornflower blue georgette and lace, with georgette coat to niatcli and blue felt liat. her flowers being goldcn marigolds, zinnias and roses. . Assisting bcr mother was Miss T\. Hales in a becoming frock of dove grey floral clienille, trinnned witb navy blue georgette and hat to tone, while otber relatives present were Mrs C. Macartney (Napier), aunt of tbe bridegroom, in cornflower blue floral mnroca i n and georgette witb hat to tone, Mrs J. F. Jeune (Gisborne), also an aunt of the bridegroom, in a model of wine chenille and black, with hat to mateh, and Mrs J. Neagle, sister of tlie bridegroom, in black georgette and lace witb hat to tone. After many felicitous toasts had been lionoured and the large three tiered cake cut by the bride. Ihe floor was cleared and a jolly dance to music supplied by Mr W'i Duncan's orehestra kept the guests happily cngaged til] the early morning hours. The bride's trnvelling dress was a beige eostume witb fawn eoat, witli fiir triniming and hat to matcb. ParticuInrly beautiful presents were received, including a siiver entree disb and dinner set from tbe employees of Claudelands. niul also som'1 bandsome cbeqnes and tbe briflesmaids were eneh presentecl by tbe bridegroom witb gold armlets, wliile to the bride be gave a trnvelling ontfit. Mr anA Mrs Clifford Hales will reside at Waipatiki, on n fnrm wbieh was a wedding present from tlie bridegroom's parents.
