WELCOME HOME TO MR TOM PARKER. SUCCESSFUL SHOOT ON PARADEA sboot of considerable interest took place on the Monte Carlo Grounds, Alarine Parade, on Saturday afternoon last. when, despite the inclement iveather a very fair field of shooters eongregated, including visitors from Gisborne, Morere and Wanstead. The principal interest of the afternoon was tbe fact that the shoot was organised as a welcome liome to Tom Parker, one of the club's oldest and keenest members. Ellis (17) 7 J. Benson (16) 7 It. Cranford (14) 6 J. Crowlcv (15) 5 H. R. Horsnell (14) 5 T. Durie (15) 4 F. G. Smith (12) 3 Alessrs T. Parker and B. Cargill divided first and second money. Tlie other shooters, with eight breaks, decided to shoot for third money in the next shoot. A trophy for hest first bnrrel was also left over. as Messrs Cargijl, Elliott and T. Parker were tying with eight firsts each. The big sboot of tlie day'was the 18-bird, £8 open liandicap, including also the six-monthly competition for the Bell Cup, presented by Mr George Graliam. In this shoot also were a quantity of trophies, including two bottlcs of liqnid refreshment, presented by Mr Bert Cook. on belialf of the D.C.L. Company; first barrel trophy, first, second and tbird trophy for novices, also two booby prizes. The value of tlie trophies ranged from 10s 6(1 to 22s 6d and were donated by Messrs J. G. Parker, J. Benson, L. S. McClurg. L. Stephenson, J. Fairclongb, Bert Cook. Tlie two booby prizes. a pine and a bottle of D.C.L. were lifted by A. Wanklyn witb only five breaks. Afternoon tca was dispensed by ihe ladies and was liiuxli nppreciated. Tbe club's president also took tbe oportunitv, during tlie period of presenting tbe various tronhies. of welcoming bome Mr Tom Parker. Tn a few well-cbosen and witty words, he spoke of Alr Parker' s earlv work in the ohiti and liis continned interest for 20 vears. v Mr Parker responded anl gave c a very interesting account of the shopting grounds he had visited in Amenca and England. He also mentioned that he had brought back for tlie cluh a gold cun. Cbcers were then oalled for tbe ladies, tlie donnrs of the many tronhies and A'lr Parker. Tbe afternoon finished np with a further 9-bird swnepstnkn. in which 14 shooters contested. J. Afills. on 18 vds., wi+h nine bvpaks. won first money, W. Elliott-. ISvds and T.
