By Telegraph— Press Association— Copyrighfi
(Received ,This Day, Noon.) CALCUTTA, April 8. The frontier ponce is jeopardised by the Afghan rivals appealing to the tribes 011 the British side of the frontier to participnte in their civil war. Tlie first definite indication of the trouble arrived four days ago. Hitherto British political officers have kepfl the tribesmen quiet, but one section of the Afghans actuallv addressed an appeal to the Molimands and Afridis, wliile the opposing section circulated a similar appeal to the Wazirs and Mahsuds. Political officers are vigorously pursuing these distributive agencies, which, if unchecked, may produce considerahle unrest in tlie tribal areas, leading to complications and need for protec-tive action. Afghan comhatauts drifting into Tndia are promptly disarmed and the movements of Afghan traders and officials into India are disconraged.
