Archbishop Redwood celebrated his 91st birthday anniversary on Monday. Archbishop Redwood was born in Staffordshire in 1839, two years after Queen Victoria's long reign commenced. He arrived in New Zealand with his parents in 1842. In 1863 he was ordained at Maynooth College, Ireland, and in 1874 he was appointed by line Holy See to the Bishopric of Wellington. The diocese then was bounded by a line from New Plymouth across to Wairoa (H.B.). and in the south by the Waitaki river, South Canterbury.
