NAPIER CLUBS AT CRICKET. COSMOP OLITAN TEAM WELL BEATEN. Quite a considerable amounfc of in* terest attached to a crieket matcli played on Nelson Park, Napier, when teams representative of the Napier ancB Cosmopolitan Cluhs met in friendly combat. The Cosmopolitan stalwarts went first to the wickets, prepared to knock up a c-olossal score. but the Napier bowlers found the wicket just to theiv liking and the entire team was out- for 96 (McLeod 14, Lydford 12, Budge 10, Eerguson 14, Bisliop, not out, 16) Bowling for Napier, the veteran# O'ConnelT, 'was dangerous at all times and took six wickets for 32. Wylie collected two wickets for the same total and C. Louisson one for six. When Napier went to the wickets the fireworks began, the two opening batsmen Stephenson and Wyllie, heing of the genus Jessop. Stephenson, during the course of a brilliant innings of 62, created a furore hy hitting 22 off one over. The innings was a hard hitting affnir throughout, the runs being rattled up in great fashion, so' much so that the total of 250 stood on the board when the last wicket fell. Amongst the scorers were O'Connell 44, Horsnell 30 Mrylie 28 and Smith 31.
