Mr Snowden Explains Position.
LONDON, April 20. Mr Snowden, speaking at Maidstone. said: — "Wednesday night's hunt in the House of Commons gave little satisfaction to the Tories. The war debt settlements are not the least disgraeelul ineidents of the Government's reeord." If the Government entered a eontraet whieh a sueceeding Government of different party would be expected to accept it was the first Government's duty to consult the party whieh might have to adhere to this agreement. This had never been done. In eonnection with debt Kettlemcnfcs Mr .Snowden said: — "No Labour Go.'ernment would dream of breaking sceh contractual arrangements except by negotiation with the other parties concerned."
