TO-MORROW'S POLL.

W. G. MARTIN.

To the Editor. Sir, — Permit 111c to draw the afctention of your rcaders to the faet that there will be a poll of the ratepayers of this eity taken 011 Tuesday, thc 23rd instant, for the pu'rposc of raising a loan to widen certain streets and dangerous eorners on the hills and flats of Napier. The ever-inereasing motor trafffe has multiplied the dangers to such an extcnt that ifc is a positive menace to pedestrians, .particularly on the liills. There are several large seliools 011 the hills, and it must be the souree of great anxiety to parents when their little ones leave each morning for school. Certain eorners have been splayed back during the past two years, but it has been- found quite imjiossible to carry out the work from revenue — ■ hence the -decision of the council to raise a Joan for this purpose. A'la.v I venture to express the hope that parents will not be indiff'ereiit to the importance of tliis work. but will visifc the polling booth in large numbers-and record their vote in favour of the loan. — I am, cte.

Napier, April 22. 1929. Inserted b.v a r range menfc.
