PROTECTION DESIRED ON IiARDINGE ROAD. MATTER, FOR HARBOUR BOARD. Tho deplorable state of Hardinge road was describcd in a petition to tiic Napier City Council Jast evening. It was urged that steps be taken to olfcc.t sohie protection tor residencts in tlie street, whieh uere littered witli rubbish on April 2 by a partfculariy lieavy sea that would liave liooded the houses had it not boen for a wind blowing out to sea. Cr. C. H. Wilkie urged tliat tlie petition be eoiisidered immediately and not left over till next meeting. He proposed tliat a letter be sent to the Harbour Board pointing out tlie facts expressed m the petition. (b- J. C. Bryant said that £500 harl been authorised by the ITnrbour Board at its last meeting to he spent on improvement s to the Hardinge road watcrt'ront. It was decided tliat the petition be forwarded to tlie Harbour Board pointing out tlie urgency of Ihe c-ase.
