E. Hall. There were ten candidates for tlie | nine vacancies. PARKVALE. | Messrs H. O. Coopcr, H. C. Downey, R. Laws, E. McDermott, S. Masters, T. O'Neill, ('. AV. Ross. E. A. Shattky, Alrs M. Smith. For the nine vacancies there were eleven candidates, and the election crented an exceptioiial amount of interest. HASTINGS WEST. Alossrs dosepli M'right. H. E. Ebbett, G. J3. Brittcn, AY. R. Clark, A. Matthews, S. -J. McKce, A. Turner, V. J. Marwick. No election was liecessary. At tliis scliool the following reiiort was presented : — The roll number in Februarv was 347, as against 354 for Februarv the previous year. Tlie schooJ lias attained a very high state of efficiency, and the inspectors' report was oue of tlie best rec-eived for inany years. Tliis reflects great credit upon Mr Maxwell and his staff, which fortunatelv went through the year without any changes. "With tlie exception of four pupils, all the pupils of Standard VI. gained proficiency or competencv. Tliis class was again under tlie tuition of Mr Malonc, who lias to he congratulated 011 the result. Tlie balance slieet sliows a satisfactory credit of L28. A flagpole is to be erected inside tlie maiu entrance, and tlie scliool lihrarv lias had maiiy additions, also class readers liave been purchased for all standards. A number of pictures were purchased durincr tlie year, included 12 views of Xew Zealand scenery. The senioi: football team was runner-up, and only suffered defeat by a very small margin. Tlie scnior cricket eleven are holding second place up to the present time. The scliool lias sccured many swimming certificates tliis year, and it bas been proposed to estahlish a swimming hatli witliin tlie scliool grounds. A committee is at present engagecl in arranging a schenie to provide funds for sauie. HAVELOCK NORTH. Mesdames Heenan and J. H. Joll, Messrs J. D. Heenan (chairman) A. Cliristie, S. Estaugh. E. W. Hougliton W. J. Miller, W. Marven and G. TI. Joll. There were fourteen candidates lor the nine seats. About 40 houseliolders \attended tlie annual meeting in tlie schoolroom last evening. Mr J. D. Heenan gave a resume of tlie vear's work and Mr J. Beaumont tlianked tlie retiring committee and staff of the scliool for the most efffcieiit manner in wliicli the scliool liad been conducted during tlie twelve montlis past. Mr J. D. Heenan proposed that the incoming committee should he recommended to arrange for a representative of Havelock to he elected a member of the Education Board. Mention was made of the Rev. Lt. B. Waugh as a possible eandiilate.
