Grant Forbes has returned to Pukahu after an exteuded lioliday in Gisborne and di&trict. AL* and Alrs H. Af. Clare, who have heen spending a week in Napier, have returned to their liomc in Gisborne. Aliss U. Walker, of Sydney, is spending a few days with M rs H. Taylor, Pukahu, prior to her ueparture for Australia on l'riday. Alr A. IT. Wil-on,, of Napier, has heen elected chairman of directors of the D.S. Ltd.. in place of Mr A. E. Jull, who has rcsigntd the position. The llev. Canon K.-E. AtacLcan and Alrs AlacLean lott Havelock Norlli yesterday moruing for Wellington. They expccb lo he away for ahout a month. Alr A E. Currie, tlie well known Wanganui athlete, is at present visiting Hawkc's Eay and is the guest of Alr and Alrs W. Ilalpin, Greenmeadows. Ari* and Alrs 8. II. Wood left Waipukurau to-dav toi* Taumarunui, where Alr Wood will take up the position of electrical engincer to the Taumarunui Borough Council. Afr AV. H. fTniitli, of Woodville, who has heen appointed postmaster at Waipukurau, visited the latter town during the week-end. Alr 8niith will assume charge in the near i'uture. Afr R. Heury and Alrs H. TI. Xorwell, accompanied by Alrs J. A. Alilne, of Napier, lebt by' the express train this morning to attend the golden tved ding of their parents in Hamilton. ATr W. -T. Alpe, who has heen on a Dominion motor tour for the past throo months. was in Waipukurau yesterday. Alr Alpe is shortly taking up his residence in Feilding, having purchased a busiii"ss there. N. •Tones, LnderSecretarv for Native Affairs, and Alr II. E. Balneavis, private seeretary to the Native Alinister. passed throngh Napier on Saturday for Gisborne. Mr Balneavis left later in tho morning for Waiomatatini. Dr. T. W. Childs. for the last 18 months superintendent of the Takanui Alcntal Hospital, has heen notified that he has heen translerred to the Seacliff Hospital, near Dunedin, where he will occupy a similar position. He will loave on Saturday for the south. Dr. Childs will most prohahly he suc: ceeded at Takanui by Dr. Prince, of Auckland. Pilot Officer H. D. AIcGregor, of Napier, son of Alr Hector AIcGregor, of Napier, has heen successful in gaining his "wings" at the Grantham R.A.F. Traiiyng School. Lincolnshire. He gained equal honours with an Oxford University student and was second in tho school. He has been posted to the ITornsehurch Flving Squadron, ten miles from London. The late Alrs A. E. Alollor senr., of Napier, whose death )ccurred yesterday, was born in Paris, France, but spent many years of her life in Australia and New Zealand. Her lovable nature and many qualities endeared her to nll who came witliin the circle of jier ntquaintance. Besidcs her hushand the dceeased ladv is survived by two daughters and two sons — Aliss Lelia Alellor, of Napier; Alrs AI. Arrowsmith, of Hastings; Alr A. E. Alellor, of Longburn : and Alr T. F. S. Alellor, of Napier — to wliom will be oxtended the svmpathy of a wido cii'cle of friends. The funeral will take place from hor late residence to-morrow (AVednesday) afternoon for interment at the Par'ke Jsland Cemetery.
