TwentyLwo eattle, -1 ealves, '25 sheep, 3 lambs, and 10 pigs were eondemned as being uniit for huinan eonsumption. There is a d'eci'oase of 101 yattle, 100 ealves, 10(53 sheep, 428 lambs and an incrcase of 163 pigs over last year's return. Thcrc has been an cxccllent season in Jlawkc's Bay and the stoek corning to the abuttoir havo been in great (•oiulition, the eattle averaging aliout lOOlbs. eaeli and the slieep about 151bs. eaeli heavier than last year's, which aocounts for the decrease in the nuinber killed. Tlie farmers are now making much more use of the abattoir 111 which to get tlieir pigs killed and inspected, iienec the inerea.se of 403 eompared with last vear. Fees amounted to -C1802 13s 9d, ineluding £25 Gs 9d colleeted from the freezing eompanies. Tlie report, which was presented tj tlie Napier Gity Council last evening, was adopted. and .satisfaetion was exjiressed at the statc* of tlie abattoir, whieh reflects credit upon tlie manager (Nlr G. Thomson).
