As a matter of iact, the Napier Association put 011 an oqual number of contests, although thore has been a dearth ot profes.sional contests since October. Tho Xapier As.sociation has now in view the importation of two hoxers Irom Australia, and it is quite within bounds, that within the next two or three months, therc will be a large number of professionals in this coiintry. "Amateur contests. — In tliese also, the association has done good work, in oncouraging the amateur part of the qiort, in assisting the High Scliool, tho Hari.st Brothers' Scliool and the :erritnrials, with their championsliips. Ahqut IP0 amateur bouts were put on luiing the year. "Alembership. — The mcmhership of ihe association is the largost it has loen since its inception, and, although ve have had four resignations at- the md of this year, there are qnite a lumber of new members, whose appli•ations are before the committee for icceptance.

Finance. — Ihe association is in a better position than it has been for four years, and has this year heen nble to pay off a portion of the debts incurred during that time. With careful handling during tho next tivelve months, and with the fortnightly amateur bouts, which it is the in,tention of the association to stage, your exeeutive feels positive that next year shoulcl bo a recoixl one." Tho balance sheet showed a profit for the year of 13s 7d, the receipts for the contests being £642 and the expensos £369. Alemhers' subscriptions for the year totalled £298, ELECTI0N OF OFFICERS. Regret was expressed at the resignation from the committee of Mr James Brown, and it was resolved to send him a letter thanking him for his past servieps. The following new memhers were electcd : — Messrs Glendinning, Lewis, Cargill, Spoor.se, and Davis. Outlining further developments, Mr Harris, eliainnan of tho committee, said that the association was plamiing fortnightly amateur bouts in tlie theatre in ihe futnre. He also said that the committee was considering impnrting a professional from Australia. and tvas also considering staging a hout in Junc with "Ono-Roimd" Donovan.
