AUCKLAND, This day. A dcnial tliat ]>rfssure had heen brought 011 12 permanent tallymen in the enijiloy of the Union Steamship Conipanv, to induce them to resign from tlieir union, was made in the Arbitration Court hy Alr Carter, manager of tlie company, wlien an aplilieation to amend the award was under consideration. So far as he was concerned. tho men had resigned voluntarilv. Alr Shcppard, for the union, said that it was singular that the resignations were all received 011 tlie same day. Tho union souglit iirovision heing made in the award to cover permanent tallying. Tlie Court reserved its decision. Applications to add 100 jiarties to the New Zealand Alotor Aleclianies' Award wero made by the union secretary. About ten firms wero struck off ihe list hy agreement. as the ]iarties cited did not come within the provisions of the award. Tlie Auckland Automobile Association's ]iatrolmen wero struck out as thev did not do Tepairs in the ordinary sense, only giving motormen the assistance necessary to get them home in the event of a hreakdown.
