Tlie children then marebed to tlie monument, wliere 4fr Wright spoke brieflv, after which tlie children marched round the monument, placing wreaths at the foot. A combined service, conducted hv tlie Rev. Wli ibley (Anglican) and the Rev. Duncan GMethodist) was held in the hall in the evening. Suitable hymns were sung and stirring acldresses were given by Ihe Revs. Whibley and Duncan. The lessons were read by Mr Fothergill and the Rev. Duncan. and Alrs Eothergill presidecl at the piano. Tbe monthiy meeting of tbe Contral Hawke's Bay Power Board was held at Waipukurau yesterday, Mr A. C. Russell presiding. Tlie State Eire Insurance Department adviscd that the board was liable for any injury to persons from a free rido who were injured whilsfc in the board' s ear. It was dccided tliat tlie staff bl> instructed not to carry anyono outside of tlie staff menibers J. D. Ormond, jnr., asked tlio amount of guarantee rccjuired to give supply to F.pae Station 011 Fgly road. The engineer rcportcd that the guarantee was £73 per annum. A guarantee of £36 per annum for a supply to Mr Lusconib's lioiise, Wanstead, was aecepted. J. E. White, Porangahau, wrote witlulrawing his guarantee on a proposed extension. Tbe Defence Department wrote agreeing tliat an oflicer of tlie board .should attend a casual camp 111 lieu of the present cainp, owing to pressure of board business. Tbe department is to be thanked.
