FATALITY NEAR AVAIPUKURAU. DEATH OF ARAIY PENSIONER.
WAIPUKURAU, Tliis day. J Last evening the seven o'clock train I from tlie Soutli killed a man just to j the soutli of Waipukurau. From docu- } ments found 011 tho bodv the deceased I was apparently Tliomas Hughes, aged | about 50. Pension papcrs issued at Taumaru1 nui. f,linved that, the man had had war | service. Dr. Raymond was suininoned, | but Hughes was dead. Both feet were i practically eut olf. j Deceased carried a swag and was | apparently walking along xhe railway. line. An inque-st is pcnding.
