At the Brooklyn navy yard the 10,000-ton cruiser Pensacola, costing 11,000,000 dollars, was successfully launched before naval and otker dignitaries. The vessel is 585 feet over all. Destructive Tornadoes. News from Atlanta (Georgia) states tliat tornadoes in South Georgia and South Carolina caused the death 0^ 39 persong and injurj7 to 200 or more, and propertv damage amounting to thousands of dollars. Thrilling Jungle Fight. The dense Burma jungle near Bogale was the scene of a' thrilling fight between Dacoitg and a party of armed police, which was sent to avenge the murder of a police inspector a month ago. The Dacoits surrendered after hvo were killed. One policeman was killed and a district superintendent wounded. Poisoned Grapes. The ilelboume master builders have sent an ultimatum to timber men and carpenters that if building johs are not manned hefore 5 p.m. on Mondav all works will he closed down, by which 5000 now working will be rendered idle.
