Attention to lioeing, h> as to kill the v.eeds and to start the Winter with a clean surface, is essential. Regular attention to the stakco and ties of dahlias is neeessary. M hilst the dahlias are in fiower is thc time to luark wrongly-named varieties and correct them. The best time to throw out any out-of-date varieties is now, and this is also Ihe best time to select from growing plants the new varieties. The planting of narcissi should be continued. Anenioncs, ranuneuli and other Spring flowering bulbs should be pJuiited as so(jn as possible. Anemones and ranuneuli require a good ricli, well-drained soil. Plant cyelamen. Tliese lovely sjjring flowering jilants should be given a half-shady position, and the soil large]y cmnposcd of lcalsoil or old eow manure. Planting oi stock.s wallflowers, iccland poppies, antirrhinums, Cantcrburv bells, can he made. vSowings of pansies. mignonette, ])rimulas, einerarias and other hardy annuals can be made. Sowings of early aiul Summer flowering varieties of sweet peas can now be made. (.'uttings of antirrhinums, pentstemous, calceolarias, Margurites. can he planted. Planted in Ijoxcs of sandy soil and shaded, they soon root. Cuttings of tecoma inserted now in sandy soil, and shaded, will soon root and will be ready for planting out in Spring. Newly made lawns sliould have the surface prepared for seed sowing. Old lawns that have become weedy and patchy should be dug over and resown.
