In replv to a deputation Avliicli waited upon him this alternoon from tlie Xapier Citv Council, urging the neces--itv of tlie removal of ihe Xapier Courtliouse from its present site to enahle tlie council to take over the section and jirocecd with tlie Marme I'arade cxtension scheme, the Mniister of Jiisticc. the JHon. T. M. AAilford. admitting that the present structure was an ovesore to tlie town. made a statement that if tlie Xapier Cit> Council was jirepared to provide a iie»v site and build a new Courtliou.se there011, in some accessible part of the town, the Justic-e Depart-luc-nt would he jirejiared to give tliem tlie present building and site 011 the Parade. The council is to consider the matter and estimates for tlie proposetl new lmilding are to be suomitted hy the Government.
