The Hon. T. M. Wilford. Minister of Defence and Justice, paid an official visit to Napier to-day. He met a deputation from the Napier Aero Club this morning and one from the Hawke's Bay Law Society this afternoon, leaving later on return to Wellington, The Minister was accompanied by Major T. M. Wilkes, Director of Aviation. Major T. M. Wilkes, Director of Aviation in the Dominion, was present at the Hawke's Bay Aero Club's pageant on Saturday, and with his manifold experience proved of material assistance to the club officials. During the course of the gathering, Major Wilkes was the subject of eulogistic reference by the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, P.C., M. P., for the work he was doing in the interests of aviation in the Dominion. Air Sydney Nieholls, of Mellington, father of Alark, "Gingcr'' and Guy Nii-liolls, the All Blacks. died 011 Saturday. The late Air Nieholls was a Wellington erieket and football representative during the 'cighties. He was bo years of age. IJe lcaves six sons, (Sydney, H. G., H. IC. . Alark Geoffrey, Guv) and two daughters (Alrs Laiomte and Aliss Dulcie Nieholls, a well-known tennis player). Air F. J. Single, of AA'niroa, who is leaving shortly for a tour of America and Europe, was given a farewell social last week hy memhers of the Hockey and Athletic Associations. Alessrs Stanton, Adsett and Dunlqp. in short addresses. spoke in high praise of the many good services Air Single hal given to sport in AVairoa, pointing cut that but for the gifiierous financial assistance he had afc times readily 1 given some forms of sport would have gone under.
